Background:
A presentation by Public Works concerning floodway Ordinance Ch. 19-43 raised a few questions for FCOH. As you already know Ordinance Ch 19-43 removed the "no rise" exception which previously allowed the city engineer to approve new building in the floodway.
Public Works gave their justification for removing the "no rise" exception stating that the theoretical impact of 1,000 single residential structures built in the floodway resulted in a 5 foot rise to the Base Flood Elevation (BFE).
FCOH questioned the city's math and wanted to check the validity of their conclusion. Watch video to find out what we have discovered. It is shocking!
